In class we collected in groups of 3 and were given 2 hours to design a campaign that aims to persuade 3-5 year olds to drink water rather than sugary drinks. We were also given multiple outputs to choose from to give us a small brief to go by. We decided against having a team leader as all 3 of us have quite timid personalities and we wanted to share equal ideas in the brainstorming phase. The equal team roles impacted the project positively as we all felt our ideas were all contributed no matter what and we were involved throughout the whole process. Linking this to the Belbin Team Roles, it is suggested that we are all team-workers and implementers which allows us to function positively as a team.
After we set out the brief, we decided to start brainstorming and created a mind map with all our ideas based around the outputs initially given. As you can see, we had multiple successful ideas for all the different sub-headings produced. We kept this session to a maximum of 30 mins as we previously had 30 minutes of research and needed at least an hour to visually produce the thoughts.

Throughout this brainstorming, we also used our digital resources to research previous campaigns and concepts that have been successful in the past. My main source was Pinterest, looking at posters and surprisingly sticker charts as this was thought to be the most engaging activity for children this age range.
Once all our ideas were concrete, we had to decide fairly on what tasks were given to each person. We wanted to vary what we do and produce as many outputs as possible. Personally, I chose stickers and badges as that was where I focused my research and felt most confident completing this. The other 2 ideas that were shared out is the website/app design and the game idea. We made an overall decision on colour and font choices as a group and then began designing our individual pieces.
I feel as though the group worked very well together and we easily adapted to our scenario whilst completing a successful campaign. We all had strong individual contribution, and no one was left out or felt they weren’t involved. Personally, being an INTP Myers Briggs role, this confidently adapted how to team worked and my individual contributions. The products we produced had consistent branding and acted as a working campaign for children to actively drink water over sugary drinks. Obviously, we only had 1 hour to create anything digitally so the products are very rough but still establish a representation of what could be more refined.
After the session, we went around the class and looked at other groups campaigns to receive feedback on what we could’ve done better. Many comments were positive and constructive on the project, and we were praised on our group efforts. If we had to complete this again, I would’ve liked to be less shy and contribute a few more ideas than originally, and I would’ve liked to contribute improvements to the rest of my groups work to help. Below, I’ve included the finished designs from the hour session and basic descriptions of their purposes.
