It is clear that there aren’t many animations produced around Formula One car’s and their fuel emissions due to the sport wanting to only promote the positive aspects. Therefore, I have considered specific areas of my final proposed animation piece and found animated shorts to reflect on as my research. Each one either includes a similar subject or general idea that I want to emphasise in my final composition.
The first animation I found is based on the comparison of fuel and electric cars and the main global warming emissions between both. It cleverly highlights that electric cars are best for the environment. Doing so, the colour green responds to the idea of growth and regeneration (Fussell, 2019). relating to the electric car whereas the gasoline car is grey symbolising negative emotions such as depression, darkness, or dirtiness (Fussell, 2019). – what will end up to our globe if we don’t change. As the animation progresses, the audience learns that fuel emissions being produced are harmful and polluting the Earth through the smoke animation relieving the car exhaust.
The purpose of this infographic is clear that it expects the audience to change their personal decisions on how they use transport and make changes following the tragic information that has been provided. The only thought of an audience we receive is anyone drives or has a license. Specifics in this are not clear or provided so is very broad as to who this is made for. However, it clearly shows the negatives of fuel based cars and gets the simple point across to it’s viewers through the creative output to influence my personal animation.
The second animation further relates to this idea of reducing individual’s carbon footprints and focusing on changing their transportation options. In particular, they respond about going car-free and not using importing any emissions into the globe. This is clearly aimed at extremists who want to completely rid of their carbon footprint. I included this in my research purely to discover their interesting system of animating the cars and gather further information on how individuals can become more sustainable.
Once again, the colour green is used to represent electric cars which confirms that this is what I will use to emphasise in my final composition. The audience is a similar age to my target in that they are old enough to have an impact on the world but are still young enough to make changes to their lifestyle. The whole animation conforms to a combined creative/realistic image whereas I want my final piece to be completely original in the subjects produced. This informative animation was slightly useful in the confirmation of certain design choices I will make in the future.
The final animation I chose to evaluate again only slightly links to my topic but gives purpose to my final thoughts and refinement. The minute long clip explores the evolution of Formula One cars throughout the years. Even though this only relates to part of my final subject, the production itself clearly helps me think through some of my future transitions and background choices. Linking back to my original storyboard sketch, I reference using track shots to show how much smoke and emissions are produced from these cars. Transitions of said track are shown below and allows an idea to follow so that I can be guided when producing my final animation.
Moreover, the smooth changes that happen in the cars exterior is a smart way that I could transition from F1 cars into electric vehicles. This production is a lot more evolved than my future one will be, but it gives indication into the subject and purpose I want to propose. This can also relate back to my target audience and aiming to involve fans of the sport to change their thoughts on the topic. Overall, this will heavily influence the production and sounds of my composition that gets produced in a positive way.
All of the animations I have included in my research have positively impacted the way i think about producing my animation and design choices that will rectify areas I was unsure about.
